Terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Virtu Studios, which makes Walden. By making an account or using Walden you agree to them. If you use Walden for a company, you agree for that company too, and say you may. Questions go to privacy@walden.so.
Your account
- You must be at least 16.
- One account is one person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; what happens under your account is yours to answer for.
- In a team’s workspace, its owners decide who is in it and what role each person has. Everyone in a workspace can read every idea in it.
Your work
What you write in Walden is yours: ideas, pages, canvases, files, and the questions you leave. You give Walden permission to store it, show it to the people you share it with, and send it to the services that run Walden, including the AI models, only so Walden can work for you. That permission ends when you delete the work, apart from copies the law makes us keep.
What the AI suggests is yours to use as you like, once you keep it. It can be wrong. Check it before you rely on it or hand it to anyone to build. Walden does not train models on your work.
You are responsible for having the right to what you put in Walden.
Using Walden fairly
Don’t use Walden to break the law or anyone’s rights; to harass anyone; to upload malware; to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours; to scrape, overload or probe it; to copy it to build a competing product; or to get around credits, seats or other limits. Walden may remove content or suspend an account that does, and will say why unless the law or safety forbids it.
Plans and payment
- Free costs nothing: 20 credits when you join, then 5 on each day you use Walden, at most 30 a month. Free credits start once your email address is confirmed, and aren’t given to addresses from disposable email services.
- Personal is $20 a month or $200 a year, with 400 credits a month.
- Team is $30 a month or $300 a year for each owner and editor, with 400 credits a month for each, shared by the workspace. Viewers are free. The seats paid for change as owners and editors join or leave.
Images you add take room: up to 1 GB a workspace on Free, 10 GB on Personal, and 10 GB for each paid seat on Team. Pages don’t count.
Prices are in US dollars, plus any tax that applies. Stripe takes payment, in advance, for each month or year. A plan renews until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in Settings under AI and billing; it then runs to the end of the period already paid for. Payments are not refunded for part of a period, except where the law says they must be. A new price reaches your plan only when it renews, after you have been told, so you can cancel first; the price you already paid for doesn’t change.
If you live in the EU or the UK, you may withdraw from a new paid plan within 14 days. By using its credits in that time you ask for the service to start at once, and a refund then leaves out what you used.
Credits
AI requests are paid for in credits; everything else in Walden is free. Each request says roughly what it costs before you make it. A paid plan’s unused credits carry over, up to one month’s worth. On Personal and Team you can buy 150 more for $10; bought credits last a year from your latest purchase, and wait, unspendable, while you are on Free. Credits have no cash value, can’t be transferred, and aren’t refunded, apart from the right to withdraw above. When credits run out, the AI stops until more arrive; nothing is charged without you choosing it.
If you add your own model key, requests on it are between you and that provider, under their terms and their charges, and use no credits. If the key stops working, requests are answered on Walden’s account and use credits until you add a working key. Your own key is part of a paid plan and is removed when the plan ends.
Other services
Sign-in goes through WorkOS, payment through Stripe, and a repository you connect through GitHub. Each has its own terms. Walden isn’t responsible for them, and a connection you make can be undone from Walden or from them.
Walden itself
Walden is new and will change: features come, go and move. It is provided as it is and as available. It aims to be there and to keep your work safe, but can’t promise it will never fail, so keep copies of what matters to you; every idea can be exported. Walden, its design and its code stay Walden’s: these terms give you the use of it, not ownership.
Ending
You can stop at any time, and delete your account in Settings under Account. Walden may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that goes unpaid; when it can, it warns first and leaves time to export. If Walden ever closes for everyone, you will be told ahead, with time to export your work, and billing stops; any refund the law requires is paid.
Liability
As far as the law allows, Walden is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost data, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid it in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that is more. Nothing here limits liability that the law says can’t be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Law
These terms fall under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and disputes go to the state or federal courts for Charlottesville, Virginia, unless the law where you live as a consumer gives you the right to bring them there.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date above changes and people with an account are told before it takes effect. Using Walden after that means you accept the new terms; if you don’t, you can cancel and delete your account.
